Five must-visit spots on your next Thailand trip

Our friends at Asia Exchange have been organizing study abroad programs in Asia for almost ten years, and they are experts when it comes to traveling in South-East Asia. They recently ran an article about us and our vintage motorcycle trips in Thailand, which you can read here. Asia Exchange offers university students affordable student exchange programs in both Phuket and Bangkok, so we were excited to hear their recommendations on which places are “must-visits” when traveling in Thailand.

Five must-visit spots on your next Thailand trip

Wat Arun

Wat Arun, or the Temple of Dawn, that dates back to 1768 is an easy to access site in Bangkok. It is one of the most stunning temples in Bangkok, and has a unique design. You can even climb up the central prang for a nice view over the river but be aware that the staircase is long and steep. The entry to the temple is only 50 baht, and it is open daily from 8.30 to 17.30. Visit in the sunrise or sunset for the best light to capturing your postcard photo to send back to your home folks!

Khao San Markets

A classic hangout for Asia Exchange students who study in Bangkok. Khao San Street is sort of a back packer center of Asia with endless street vendors, amazing Thai food, bars - it is pretty much an area that never sleeps! One of the best places in Bangkok for people watching as there are travelers from around the world mixing with locals from all corners of Thailand. A definite must visit when in Bangkok!

Koh Phi-Phi

A long time favorite of Asia Exchange students who Study in Phuket – and not only because the orientation week ice-breaking party for the students is held on this paradise island... Hike up a small mountain, find your own little sandy cove for a swim, or enjoy a cold drink at one of the many chilled beach bars – island life at its best! Known for its beautiful beaches, amazing viewpoints, and fun party vibes, Phi-Phi Island is sure to keep you well entertained for a good few days at least!!

Railay Beach

Just a short boat ride from Krabi or Ao Nang, Railay Beach is a picturesque peninsula surrounded by blue oceans and steep cliff faces. Accessible only by water, this idyllic holiday destination manages to hold some beauty to it that some overbuilt and over populated places in Asia cannot provide. The main bay in Railay is one of the most photographed views in whole Thailand, and when you are standing there on a sunny day, you won’t wonder why. Take a barefooted walk on the beach, get yourself a coconut, and get your friend to snap an Instagram pic of you while sitting on one of the world's nicest swings!

Krabi Weekend Night Markets

Park your motorbike right outside the market area and dive in! Krabi Nightmarkets are full of people, amazing Thai-food, and all sorts of souvenirs one could ever think of. Just briefly visiting the markets is an experience itself thanks to all the lights, amazing smells, and the happy people everywhere. Don’t be afraid to try local delicacies, even if they might seem a little too exotic sometimes. Smile and have fun; Thai-people love smiling and so should you!
