With a surface area around five times the size of the United Kingdom, Peru is a vast country with unbelievably diverse landscapes. Arid desert, glaciers, immense forests, Peru's ecosystems are both rich and varied. It is a dream come true for bikers looking for memorable motorcycle adventures. Riding a Royal Enfield through this wonderful yet wild country means just one thing: unforgettable memories are guaranteed.
Colca Canyon
With a depth of more than 3,000 metres, Colca Canyon is one of the deepest in the world and is currently considered one of the top things to do while visiting Peru. Located in Arequipa region, Colca is two times deeper than the Grand Canyon in the United States. But really, it's the road that leads to Colca that makes this detour all the more worthwhile. Some words of advice for our foolhardy riders: set off for Peru and experience the great escape.
Cusco, the Ancient Capital of the Incas
Located at altitude, the Ancient Capital of the Incas is certainly worth the detour. So much so, that we have made it a main stop on one of the legs that forms part of our motorcycle tour in Peru. There is plenty to visit in Cusco, but some of the best things are: the Plaza de Armas, Qoricancha, the ruins and the sacred valley. You'll appreciate these moments of rest after a busy day on a fantastic road.
Machu Picchu, the symbol of Peru across the world
If there were just one place that represented Peru, Machu Picchu would be it. An iconic Inca citadel, Machu Picchu is the most visited attraction in Peru, with around 800,000 visitors per year. Located at an altitude of more than 2,400 metres, Machu Picchu (“old mountain” in Quechua) is an extraordinary example of Inca history and savoir faire. So, if you're going to Peru, don't forget to check it out.
Lake Titicaca: Another emblem of Peru
Known throughout the world, Lake Titicaca is another must. Straddling Peru and Bolivia, you'll get the chance to ride along the shores of this immense lake. Get away and enjoy some of the most unique landscapes in the world. As well as the extraordinary view, you may even come across wild animals. In fact, the wealth of fauna in this region is unbelievable.
All of the activities that we have mentioned are part of our tour Inca Treasures in the High Andes. However, if you have a little more time in Peru, you could enjoy the country's other treasures, including the Nazca lines, the Andes or even the Amazon rainforest.
