A sign of a god trip is when things go wrong. Unfortunately I broke my leg at the end and Tuk and the driver were excellent in arranging help and support.
its so effortless in terms of logistics but still feels like your on an advernture. its not a simple tour, its a challenge but all the annoying elements are elimited.
As a fairly experienced off road/gravel road rider the first day of training served as a refresher course, it was good to get used to the bike. As for the other two days, we got lots of great roads, both paved and gravel of varying quality/difficulty. For a beginner this is an excellent opportunity to learn and get a feeling for "adventure riding". None of the other guys had any problems with the roads we took, even if some never had ridden on gravel before.
For a more experienced rider it still is well worth the money, at least if you've never been to the area. All in a beautiful landscape with curvy roads and excellent food in between.
Simply amazing - from beginning to end. The landscapes, the never-ending sky, the nomadic people. Yaks everywhere! It was the most magical (yet challenging) experience which exceeded our expectations. The VR Team were fantastic - adaptable, professional and heaps of fun. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
The ride through Ecuador was amazing. Great riding and scenery everywhere we went was friendly and fun. Highly recommended, challenging but not beyond intermediate skill level. We were up and down the Andes so bring plenty of layers. Raphael made sure we had good stopping points for changes.
I go on about 6 mc tours per year - probably over 100 tours since 2000. I run tours myself, (Bike Tours UK) so I know how it works and I know how much these things cost. My own tours to Nepal cost about exactly the same as the ones you run, so I know the price is about right.
Apart from the start & finish, where the hotel was the worst of the entire trip, the everything else, both the accommodation and food was far higher than I expected. Better than it needs to be.
The fact that Raphael was a good rider and accomplished photographer was a bonus as well.
I’d be happy to work with him if you wanted to run a UK tour ?
Fantastic trip overall. My only regret was all of the other riders were from France and with my limited French language skills, I could not participate in many of the mealtime/other conversations. I wish I had been advised of this in advance
A really well put together trip with high quality accommodation and varied landscapes for the price and good quality bikes. Our guide, Rafael, was simply superb from start to finish, as was our driver, Andy.
