I was worried that the trip would be a bit sanitized, like Thailand, and it turned out to be quite the opposite: sumptuous landscapes, incredibly smiling and friendly Vietnamese people, and a trip that was at times technical, even difficult, often away from cars because it took them through a lot of single tracks that weren't accessible to them!
