North Vietnam: Across the mountain passes of Ha Giang

A beautiful trip, with superb landscapes, most of them very particular to this region. A very welcoming population. The Ha Long Bay extension is a must. This trip deserves to be done, because of the beauty of the scenery surrounding us on the roads. On the other hand, perhaps the October period would be less rainy and less overcast! Overall, the pace wasn't very sustained, with early arrival at the hotel on some days (short distances on the stage), and not always enough to do in our free time. The same tour could easily be done with at least one day less. My last point is about driving on very clean roads at 50/60 km/h, the same speed as on secondary concrete roads!

It was an amazing trip. I wasn't expecting the riding level to be so adventurous - I wasn't expecting so much off road. It an amazingly satifying and rewarding experience having been challenged and proven to myself what I am capable of. This trip has given me new confidence in myself and my abilities. I bought a Himalayan and am now enjoying riding it around France. Martin was great- his charisma and enthusiasm really made for a great adventure. It's a truly amazing and memorable way to experience a new country, the people and meeting new fellow riders.
